Research Colloquium- Law
The School of Law Christ (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa campus organised a Research Colloquium on 10 September 2026 at the Smart Room, Central Block, bringing together Ph.D. scholars for a day of academic engagement, research presentations, expert discussions, and constructive scholarly exchange. The colloquium was conceived as a platform to help doctoral scholars reflect on the progress of their research, address methodological and conceptual challenges, strengthen their publication strategies, and identify clear pathways towards the completion and dissemination of their research. The initiative was aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, highlighting the importance of continuous academic development and research excellence.
The programme commenced with an Inaugural Session and Welcome Note, which introduced the objectives and significance of the colloquium. The opening session set the tone for a day centred on critical reflection, academic dialogue, and practical guidance for doctoral researchers.
The first expert session, titled “Pathways of Publication: A Guide to Scopus-Indexed Publication,” focused on one of the significant challenges faced by research scholars—the process of converting research into quality scholarly publications. The session addressed important aspects of academic publishing, including identifying suitable journals, understanding journal scope and indexing, preparing manuscripts according to publication requirements, navigating the submission process, and responding to peer-review and revision. The discussion also emphasised responsible publication practices and the importance of selecting credible academic platforms for disseminating research findings.
The second expert session, “Navigating Legal Research: Methodology, Ethics and the Responsible Use of AI,” explored contemporary dimensions of legal scholarship. The session highlighted the importance of appropriate research methodology in conducting rigorous legal research and examined the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in academic work. Particular attention was given to the ethical and responsible use of AI tools in legal research, academic writing, and scholarly activities. The session encouraged scholars to consider technology as a research aid while maintaining academic integrity and ethical standards. The colloquium also provided an important platform for Doctoral Research Progress Review and Scholar Presentations. Ph.D. scholars presented their ongoing research, outlining their research objectives, methodology, work completed, preliminary findings, and challenges. These presentations facilitated meaningful academic interaction and enabled scholars to receive constructive feedback and guidance on the future direction of their research. The review process encouraged participants to critically assess their progress, identify research gaps, and establish priorities for the next stage of their doctoral journey. The academic sessions were enriched by the presence of Dr. Abhilash Aggarwal, Assistant Professor of Law, and Dr. Swatee Yogessh, Associate Professor of Law. Dr. Aggarwal brought expertise across areas including Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, Information Technology Law, Artificial Intelligence and Law, cybersecurity, digital rights, privacy, and technology-related legal developments. Dr. Yogessh contributed her experience in legal education, research, scholarly publication, Constitutional Law, Corporate Law, Administrative Law, Jurisprudence, and emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Law. Their perspectives added considerable value to the discussions on research methodology, publication, emerging legal issues, and the evolving relationship between law, technology, governance, and society.
The colloquium concluded with a Concluding Session and Vote of Thanks, reflecting upon the key insights and outcomes of the day and acknowledging the contributions of the resource persons, scholars, faculty members, and organisers.
Overall, the Research Colloquium served as a valuable academic forum for strengthening doctoral research and scholarly capacity. It enabled participants to reflect critically on their research journey, understand publication opportunities, engage with contemporary research practices, and develop a more focused roadmap for research completion and dissemination. By combining expert guidance with scholar presentations and constructive feedback, the colloquium fostered an environment of collaborative learning and research excellence.
