Inauguration of the Senior Batch 2026–2027: A Step Towards Academic and Professional Excellence
The School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, inaugurated the Senior Batch for the Academic Year 2026–2027 on 4 September 2026. The programme marked an important transition in the academic journey of students as they entered the senior years of their legal education with greater academic responsibility, professional awareness, and a deeper understanding of their role within the legal profession and society. The inauguration brought together students from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th years of the integrated law programmes, providing a common platform for reflection, learning, and preparation for the next stages of their academic and professional careers. The programme was designed to orient students towards the opportunities and responsibilities associated with the senior phase of legal education, with a particular focus on advanced legal learning, professional development, research, internships, and career preparation. A significant highlight of the programme was the presence of Justice Sandeep Kashinath Shinde, Lokayukta of Goa, as the Guest of Honour. His interaction with
the students provided valuable insights into the functioning of the justice system and the responsibilities that accompany the legal profession. His engagement particularly emphasised the importance of judicial ethics, constitutional values, professionalism, integrity, and the administration of justice. The interaction encouraged students to look beyond legal knowledge and recognise the importance of ethical conduct, accountability, and commitment to justice in shaping a meaningful legal career. The programme also highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical legal experience. As students progress through the senior years, opportunities such as internships, research projects, moot courts, clinical legal education, professional interactions, and career-oriented training become increasingly significant. The inauguration therefore served as a platform to encourage students to make purposeful use of these opportunities and develop competencies that extend beyond academic performance. The sessions further encouraged students to approach their remaining years at the School of Law with greater clarity and commitment. Senior batches occupy an important position within the academic community, as they are
not only learners but also role models for junior students. Their conduct, academic engagement, professional aspirations, and participation in institutional activities contribute to creating a vibrant and responsible learning environment. The inauguration ultimately served as a reminder that legal education is not confined to the study of statutes, precedents, and legal principles.
